Enjoy interesting, fun studio art activities paired with a glass of wine, light hors d’oeuvres and great conversation during Wine & Art nights at the Figge. Featuring a different art medium each month, you’ll create finished art works to display in your home in these cool, casual studio sessions.

This month, stretch your artistic soul with an awesome acrylic painting evening.  Artist Allen Holloway will share his techniques and painting know-how with students as they create an inspired landscape canvas.

Introduction of Bookmaking with Andrew Huot • September 4
If you’ve never made a book before but always wanted to try then this Wine & Art evening is for you! Artist Andrew Huot will teach students how to work with paper, thread and glue to create several unique books and pamphlets. From cover to cover, you’ll enjoy the story of bookmaking!

Cancer Survivors & Caretakers Art Night with Emily Christenson • October 2
Spend a creative evening painting with artist Emily Christenson. Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, a glass of wine and a sweet treat while you express yourself artfully in a relaxed, social studio setting. This special evening is a collaborative effort between Living Proof, a Quad Cities' cancer survivors program, and the Figge Art Museum to help celebrate the strength and resilience of cancer survivors and the caretakers who offered them comfort and aid.

Day of the Dead wth Gloria Burlingame • October 9
La Calavera Catrina is a defining image of the Day of the Dead celebration, Learn the history of the iconic Catrina and Day of the Dead traditions as you fashion your own 3D mixed-media Catrina figure.

Japanese Brush Calligraphy Art with Anna Ito • November 6
Enjoy an evening with artist Anna Ito, executive director at Japan Brush Writing Association, USA Division. Ito will teach students the Japanese Hiragana/Katakana alphabets. Learn basic Japanese calligraphic brush strokes you'll use to write your name and form Japanese Kanji characters. Create a colorful holiday holly wreath and one-of-a-kind holiday cards, personalized with the Japanese brush writing you'll master in this relaxed, fun class.
